You Won't
Know if You Don't Ask
Just about every time I have asked someone how
he or she got to do something, or made something happen, or
received a favor, the answer is the same. They tell me, "I
asked." If you don't ask you don't get.
A
lot of people don't ask because they assume the answer will
be no. I was picking up some fried chicken for my husband
at our local grocery store. I buy the chicken from the deli
because that is his favorite. I arrived late and noticed that
there were only a few dark pieces left, so I asked Mike, the
deli person, for an eight-piece bag of dark meat. After he
gave me the eight-piece meal there was one piece of dark meat
left. I asked Mike if the store still threw away the leftover
chicken at the end of the day (a practice I just can't stand)
and he said yes.
"Well then Mike," I said, "you
should give me that last piece of dark meat since you will
just throw it away." Without a word Mike reached in the
case, grabbed the leg and put it in my bag. When I told my
husband that I had done that he just laughed and I said, "Hey,
you don't know if you don't ask."
Coaching
There is no guarantee you will get if you ask,
{FIRSTNAME}, but I can guarantee, if you don't ask, you won't
get!
Coaching Question
What will you ask for today?
Daily Action
Today, ask three people for something you want.
You could ask someone for a date, to give you something extra
at the restaurant or you could even ask someone to just sit
and listen to you for a few minutes. If you don't get whatever
it is you ask for you have lost nothing, but if you do, you
have gained confidence and courage to keep on asking.
Quotes
"Cats seem to go on the principle that
it never does any harm to ask for what you want." Joseph
Wood Krutch
"We tend to get what we expect." Norman
Vincent Peal
